Estado d' Época [State of Epoch]
at Sopro Arte Contemporânea, Lisboa
Estado d' Época [State of Epoch] is an investigation about the ideas of action/agency, renovation and change; a reaction to the vague, empty nature of contemporary discourses.
A central aspect of the process here was the double nature of words and word-games in Portuguese (the titles of the work seek a polysemic and to open-up to larger readings) to point at the current political and social climate, associating it to memento mori and a sense of impotence.
This exhibition is sincere statement. Even if faint and very little consequential it advocates for other values that oppose the direction of the current political decisions that seek to increase the sensation of social division, existential turmoil and sound as life enslavement.
For a better understanding follows the titles of the works in Portuguese and its translation
